Heather Downes, MD, FAAD

Dr. Heather Downes is a board-certified dermatologist who has been practicing in the Lake Forest / Bannockburn area for twelve years. Dr. Downes devotes her time and attention to every patient herself, never delegating patient care to a physician assistant or nurse.

Dr. Downes practices the full range of medical dermatology and sees patients of all ages. In particular, she prides herself on performing thorough, non-rushed Skin Cancer Screenings. Devoting 30 minutes to each patient for each screening, she uses a powerful tool called a dermatoscope to better visualize moles and suspicious lesions up close.

As a skin surgeon, she removes skin cancers and benign lesions such as moles and cysts. She has performed thousands of surgeries on the face and performs all procedures herself, never handing off patient care to a less-experienced associate.

Dr. Downes is also an expert injector of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers. Her goal with every cosmetic procedure is to keep her patients looking refreshed but completely natural. Dr. Downes is one of the few board-certified dermatologists in the country who performs the Ultherapy non-surgical lift on the face and neck. Additionally, she performs microneedling and laser procedures to rejuvenate skin, and uses Vanquish ME to contour the abdomen and thighs.

Dr. Downes is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the National Rosacea Society.
