Vanquish ME is an FDA-approved procedure for eliminating unwanted fat. It is non-invasive, does not touch the skin, does not cause pain, and involves no downtime. Vanquish ME uses radiofrequency to warm the fat layer of the abdomen or thighs, raising the temperature of the fat cells to a degree that makes the fat cells die off (undergo apoptosis).

How is Vanquish ME different from liposuction?

Vanquish ME is non-invasive and is intended for individuals closer to their ideal body weight who struggle with areas of stubborn fat deposition.  It is not a substitute for liposuction, which allows a greater volume of fat removal.

How is Vanquish ME different from CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is also non-invasive method of fat removal, but instead of heating fat like Vanquish ME, CoolSculpting freezes fat. Coolsculpting can be associated with significant discomfort during and following treatment. Additionally, Coolsculpting can cause uneven “scalloped” results due to its small spot size. By contrast, Vanquish ME is painless and has the largest spot size of any device, covering the abdomen from flank to flank, giving even results.

What sets Vanquish ME apart?

Vanquish ME is the only contactless body shaping device on the market. Its large treated area makes the therapy typically more affordable, with more fat removed compared to other procedures. Its body shaping effects tend to be more uniform across the entire body part. The Vanquish ME technology is based on the elevation of fat temperature. As such, there is no risk of paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (worsening of fat) – a phenomenon related to fat freezing.

How does Vanquish ME work?

Vanquish ME uses radiofrequency energy in an adjustable panel that hovers about an inch over the skin. The radiofrequency energy easily passes through the skin to heat the fat layers, while the energy is blocked from passing through muscle below. The energy causes heating of fat cells leading to cell death termed “apoptosis.”   The elimination of fat cells leads to a decreased thickness of the fat layer.

What is radiofrequency?

Radiofrequency is a special form of electricity.  Radiofrequency is used extensively in dermatology and cosmetic surgery to target certain layers of the skin to help with skin tightening, collagen regeneration, and deep tissue heating and fat elimination.

Who is a good candidate for Vanquish ME?

Vanquish ME treatments are designed for adults who want to decrease the circumference of the abdomen or thighs without doing liposuction. Ideal patients are those who are already close to ideal body weight but who have areas of stubborn, unwanted fat that they want to improve.

Who is a poor candidate for Vanquish ME?

Individuals with a metal or implantable device should not be treated with Vanquish as the metal can heat up during the treatment.  Women who are pregnant or breast feeding also cannot undergo treatment.

What areas of the body can be treated with Vanquish ME?

The abdomen + flanks and the inner + outer thighs can be treated.

What does Vanquish ME feel like?  Does it hurt?

Comfort is the main advantage of Vanquish ME compared to other shaping therapies. Nothing touches the skin as the adjustable panel hovers about an inch over the skin. The skin under the panel warms up and by the end of treatment you may feel a bit sweaty. The treatment is performed in a lying position so you can easily relax during the procedure.

How should I prepare for Vanquish ME treatment?

All metal jewelry should be removed. In the 1-2 days prior to treatment, patients are requested to stay well hydrated, drinking 2 L of water per day.  Patients should continue to stay well-hydrated throughout their 4-week course of treatment.  Water helps to hydrate the skin, allowing the radiofrequency energy to travel easily through the skin and target the fat layer more effectively. Water also helps flush the broken down fat cells out of your system.

Patients should avoid dehydrating activities in the couple of days prior to treatment, including high-perspiration activities and hot yoga.

How long is a treatment session?  How many treatments will I need?

Each therapy session takes approximately 45 minutes to treat the abdomen or 60 minutes to treat both thighs. Sessions are done weekly for 4 weeks. You can easily return to your daily activities right after each session. Some patients may wish to undergo additional series of treatments to target additional areas of the body.

What should I expect immediately after each Vanquish ME treatment?

The skin in the area of the treatment will remain warm and slightly pink for a period of minutes to a couple of hours following Vanquish treatment.  Temporary swelling is also possible in the area of treatment.

Is there any downtime?

The whole procedure is non-invasive, contactless, and requires no recovery time. You can easily have the treatment during your lunch break, and return to your daily activities immediately.

What should I expect following Vanquish ME treatments?

You can expect reduction in circumference of your abdomen or thighs. The exact reduction will depend on many factors, including your BMI. Most patients experience approximately 2 inches of fat loss off their waist circumference and 1-2 inches off their thigh circumference.

What happens to fat cells after they are treated by Vanquish ME?

Fat cells that undergo apoptosis (the natural form of cell death) are broken down by our own body’s scavenger cells, filtered through the lymphatic system, metabolized by the liver, and finally eliminated from the body, primarily through urine.

How long does it take to see results following Vanquish ME?

Many patients report changes as soon as 2 to 3 weeks after the first treatment, when their body starts to naturally eliminate disrupted fat cells. Optimal results can be usually seen after a couple of months.

How long will the results last?

Since Vanquish ME causes apoptosis (cell death) of fat cells, affected cells are permanently eliminated. These ells will not regenerate. Clinical studies show that results are maintained many years later.

Will I need to change my lifestyle or follow a defined diet?

Vanquish ME will help you achieve aesthetic improvement regardless of your lifestyle. You will not be required to exercise or alter your dietary habits. However, the treatment results give you a head start to a better looking body.

Is Vanquish ME safe?  Are there any side effects from treatment?

Yes, Vanquish is safe for deep tissue heating as validated by clinical studies. There are very few side effects from Vanquish treatment.  A “hot spot” or tender spot may occur if an area of fat gets inflamed, but the tenderness is mild and self-resolves over several days.

Can Vanquish ME hurt my skin or internal organs?

Vanquish ME is safe. The high-frequency radiofrequency preferentially targets fat.  Skin, sweat glands, hair follicles, muscle, and internal organs are not affected by treatment, as proven by clinical studies. The patient is accompanied throughout the entire treatment. If the patients feels an area of skin that feels too hot, we adjust the positioning of the panel and massage the skin to resolve the heat sensation.

What happens if I gain weight following treatment?

Diet and exercise maintenance are encouraged following Vanquish ME treatment.  An increase in weight will allow fat stores to accumulate.  This may occur disproportionately in untreated areas.
